Teeing off the 2022 Season at Briggs Ranch’s Dormie Matches

The 2022 network events season has officially begun, with the 4th annual Dormie Matches held at Briggs Ranch on March 3 – 5!

The event kicked off on Thursday with practice rounds, an optional skins game, and a Tex Mex dinner with all the fixins: beef empanadas, ceviche, three-meat fajitas, cheese enchiladas, and flan.

Following dinner, the draft commenced. Head Golf Professionals from each club selected their five players from the field for five round-robin 9-hole matches to be played on Friday and Saturday.

Friday was a hot one, with a 9 a.m. start already showing 75 degrees. But the teams took it in stride, with no minor assistance from the Deep Eddy truck pouring bloody marys at tee time.

Though Chef Josh and team set expectations high on Thursday, they outdid themselves with an all-out East Texas oyster roast Friday night featuring fire-roasted gulf oysters, shrimp boil with potatoes and corn, blackened chicken, gumbo, Crab Louie salad, crawfish etouffee, smoked beef tri tip, braised greens and dirty rice, empanadas, and bananas foster. Not a hungry belly left in the house.

The festivities continued well into the night: horseshoes, axe throwing, corn hole, ping pong, and a special performance by Matt Tejeda and the Backwoods Band under the lights.

Congrats to Team Dormie on their win! All teams walked away with a swag bag replete with a leather shoe bag, leather wallet, and Bluetooth charging speaker, all emblazoned with the Dormie Network logo.

Which event will you attend next?

Next time you’re at Briggs, be sure to say hello to mascots Jack & Jose!
